Our site is intended as a web home for descendants of the Gabriel, Adler,
Merdian and Wetsch families originated from Alsace/France and Germany.
These families emigrated to the Odessa area in South Russia (Ukraine) in
the early 1800s settling in the German colonies of Kleinliebental, Mariental,
Franzfeld, Landau, Sulz, Blumenfeld, Neu-Liebental, Krasna. Many of them
moved to the USA in the late 1800s - early 1900s and initially settled in
the Dakotas and Texas.
Our purpose is providing a place for all family members to be in touch, get
to know each other and share family history, news and photos. Currently
we have 166 members from the USA, Canada, Germany and Ukraine.
GABRIEL family tree: descendants of Georges Gabriel whose grandson
Jakob emigrated from Riedselz, Weissenburg, Alsace, France to
Mariental in 1804.
ADLER family tree: descendants of Sebastian Adler born in 1765 who
emigrated from Fort Louis, Bischweiler, Alsace, France to
Kleinliebental in 1803.
MERDIAN family tree: 2 branches from Ottersheim and Knittelsheim,
Germersheim, Pfalz, Germany - Joannes Jacob Merdian born about
1713 whose grandson Valentin Merdian emigrated to Landau in 1818,
and Georg Merdian born about 1710 whose grandsons Andreas,
Jakob and Johannes Rudolf emigrated to Franzfeld in 1808-1809.
WETSCH family tree: 2 branches from Weidental, Neustadt, Pfalz,
Germany - Jakob Wetsch born in 1776 who emigrated to Kleinliebental
in 1809, and Jakob Wetsch born in 1763 whose son Johann
emigrated to Sulz.
Surnames connected to our lines: Heier, Zerr, Wolf, Zimmermann,
Heinzmann, Wagner, Knoll, Malsam, Mock, Harty, Lowenstein,
Heilman, Herzog, Diehl, Leibham, Mattern, Gisi and many others.
